Welcome
This is my personal website
For many years I have been running several
tutorial websites designed to help those who are
starting out with their art, and who want to
know more about my speciality, Coloured Pencils,
and the techniques for using them.
Back in September 2019, I decided that the time had come to
retire from teaching, and since then I have progressively
withdrawn from tutoring residential courses, I have stopped
undertaking demonstrations, and - now - I no longer host
Coloured Pencil Topics which is acknowledged to be the major
coloured pencil teaching website.
I founded and have run Topics for the last twelve years.
The good news is that Pencil Topics continues and contains
over 100 pages of techniques, tutorials and help for new and
intermediate artists with a large worldwide readership.
The Pencil Topics website has been taken over by a fellow
Coloured Pencil enthusiast, Carol Leather, who also lives in the
UK.
That teaching website has been re-launched with the
advantage of improved on-site facilities and includes some old
teaching content that had been archived a few years ago and
which still attracts readership.
Welcome Carol, and every good wish for the future !
In the last pages of that Pencil Topics site, I had a personal
collection of my own pictures in a range of different media.
As Carol is now running Pencil Topics, it seems only right that
my personal pages find a new home.
THIS IS THAT NEW HOME
WWW.PENCILTOPICS.CO.UK
The Topics website is probably the
largest freely available ( and free to
use ) source of Coloured Pencil facts
in the world. It is written from a UK
point of view and contains tutorials
and a wide range of information
about how coloured pencils of all
types can best be used and the ideal
papers to use them on. The site also
contains general painting technique
information such as perspective and
colour mixing.
